What goes around, comes around - Chapter 8

I was sitting on my bed, hair and teeth un-brushed, looking into my phone like a lunatic who had seen a smart device for the first time. But it was the message on it that I was startled by. It read - You are beautiful, smart and a great daughter. You already know that. You probably don't even remember who I am. But I still listen to that song you recorded for my birthday. Remember anything, Ips? There was just One person who would call me with that name- Sivli. But how ? Last thing I knew about her was that she was taken to some Asylum in Canada, about 10-12 years ago. 10 years ago : July 23 ,2008  " Oh c'mon Sivli, it's your birthday . Please don't lie today. Tell everyone about 'him' or I will have to break our Best-Friends-Pact." "OK , OK , fine! It's Dev , from the 12th Grade." The girls giggled and whispered. Dev was the most talked about guy in our school and Sivli was crazy about him. And being her best friend, since pr...

Imaginations and desires! - Chapter 7

I came back to my room that night, and decided to take leave for the next day;  not because I was ill, but because -  you must always take a break from your fast pacing life, in order to just pause and see how tactfully you have handled the mess and turned out to be a better  version of yourself, to pause and appreciate yourself without judging or validating; in order to close the main door and stay up at the backyard in order to indulge in the secondary amusements so that you can gather energy for a better opening. I was shaken to my core. I just had a dinner with nobody , gifted from a nobody and for god-knows-why reasons . Was I desperate , and may be She knew it and was , henceforth, making a joke about it ? Or was it kind of a revenge , and may be I was drugged through the dinner I was served , and ... i was about to die ?? I rushed to the toilet and forced out a puke. Then came out and dashed into the kitchen searching for a Lemon and as I found on...

The Serendipity - Chapter 6

I left office early that day ! My curiosity was at level N. On my way back home , I kept looking at Pitara's (yeah , the restaurant was near my house) ,with an expectation to catch a glimpse of the person who was going to be my table-partner for the evening ! More than that, there was "chicken" mentioned in that note and Pitara's had the best Indian chicken dishes. A big smile curved up on my face , and I ran upstairs to my flat. At sharp 8 pm, I came down in my daily pajamas, no makeup and my Indian chappals ; I literally looked so bad that I even feared facing the mirror. I was in no intention of being laid  around  by the handsome guy ( if any) . I went up to Pitara's , asked for my table and the receptionist showed me Table no -12. I was shocked, 'cause that was only table at the corner, near the windows where I sat whenever I was at Pitara's. My first thought -  So somebody has been stalking me since I don't know when ?! I was sti...

That Brunch! - Chapter 5

Every morning would start with a message from my mommy even though there was a time gap of 10 hours between the US and India. See, Mothers! I always stayed connected to my Mom ; she was the only One I had in this big world ! Though I still anticipated of how he would be walking around , in some part of the world, still his hands in his pocket, brooding over his last night's mischief( he always did)! The world is too small, in terms of the brims of your inferences ; you never know that there may be someone else too ,in the other side, having the same sense of Realization as that of you.But yeah, fate is too monopolizing - it doesn't let you push those brinks and move to that other side ,till you deserve it . That day Daksh didn't come for Lunch, I waited and called him up , but his number was unreachable. So I decided to dine with my  mom  on the Call. I was just about to finish and go back to work when a small girl came up to me with a Note and a bouquet of ch...

The First day - Chapter 4

The meeting went well and I had a sumptuous lunch with my client and colleagues.I felt contented. "Would you like a drink?" The line startled me.It was in the same way he used to ask. Sometimes, you are so obsessed with your expectations that the veil created out of it nevergets torn off and you miss the presence of a beautiful moment in the present.Even though youcan't defy time, you still expect everything to stand still , forget all faults and guilts and goback to the past and get lost.It's not easy though, at least not to get fooled again. I looked back and found Daksh. "Whooa, what are you doing here!",I asked in surprise. " I am in the HR depa...

My new place - Chapter 3

I clicked a lot of pics of the new apartment I had rented, which faced a beautiful garden. The US was cool; not only in terms of the weather, but also in terms of type people residing there- Everyone, known or unknown, would greet you with a smile ! I sent all the pictures to mom,and my mom just asked me one thing , "They have a kitchen, right? Cook yourself.Don't eat outside." I cleaned up the rooms and furnitures  and was just making myself comfortable on bed, when someone rang the doorbell. It was my landlord. I was dumbstruck when I saw a teen of my age standing at the door. "Hello , I am your landlord.Daksh." "Hi!Please come in." I wouldn't lie but I had expected some old aged man. "I am pretty sure that Jasper would have already briefed you about the rent structure and the regulations." Jasper was the one who had showed me the house. "I would just like to add that, you can always reach out to me for any concerns,esp...

The Path taken - Chapter 2

My mom was far away from the typical mommies of her age.She was way cooler than one could expect a mom to be. The best thing was that I could conclude where I actually stood, when I talked to her. And there I was ,packing my stuff in my bag for the next three months in the US . It's funny, how sometimes even the simplest things need to be seen from someone else's eyes, like a 3D image. We, who are involved in judging the every second person , fail to calculate the associated consequences of our actions. "Take that red sweater I had sewed for you. It's warm" "Mom I have already packed 3 sweaters." "I didn't ask you.Just do it.You don't know how cold that country is" "Huh!! Ohk fine!" You can never say NO to your mom. "And delete his pics and number from your phone. You know you deserved better." "You checked my phone?!" "I was just guessing and you sound like my guess is right." I wa...
